Todd Smith, PGA Head Golf Professional
Todd Smith came to Valley Hi Country Club with a wealth of experience in golf operations and golf instruction. He has held titles of Director of
Golf, Head Professional, Director of Instruction, Senior Master Instructor, and
Golf Manager. Todd has been awarded Teacher of the Year and Junior Golf Leader
by the Southern California PGA and San Diego SCPGA Chapter. He was also honored
as U.S. Kids Top 50 Master Kids Teachers which is an international award given
to instructors that have been recognized at Top 50 Kids Teachers three or more
times. Todd teaches golfers of all levels ranging from beginner to PGA/LPGA
Tour Professionals.

Scott deBorba, PGA 1st Assistant Golf Professional
Scott started at Valley Hi Country Club in 2011 as 1st
Assistant Golf Professional. He is an energetic and motivated PGA Professional.
Scott possesses strong communication and teaching skills with the goal of
providing a superior country club experience for our members. Scott has won the
Northern California PGA Assistant’s Championship in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2021, and
won the 2019 Northern California PGA Player of the Year. His accomplishments on
the course have helped him excel his teaching career and provide his students
with insight from the competitive playing side to the youthful learning side.
Scott heads our Junior Program in the summer where he provides a safe and fun
environment for juniors to learn skills to enjoy the game of golf.

Dave Singh, Assistant Golf Professional
Dave is an Assistant Golf Professional entering his
seventeenth year here at Valley Hi Country Club. Starting from a young age,
Dave established a love and passion for the game of golf. As an instructor, he
believes in providing a patient and fun learning environment while developing
and improving a person’s swing and short game. Dave’s teaching philosophy is to
communicate the correct amount of information during each lesson so the student
can understand and improve immediately. This method has made him a key coach in
running our Junior Golf Program for the last ten years. He has a talent for
making golfers truly enjoy the game while they learn. Dave has been a Star
Crusader with TaylorMade for nine years and is well educated in all golf
equipment brands. He is experienced in club fittings and club repair. Dave is
skilled in using the Trackman radar system and was named Club Fitter of the
year by Ping. He has an eye to help determine the best clubs for your game.
Dave’s knowledge can help build your confidence with having the proper
equipment to match your skill.

Shelly Walsh, Assistant Golf Professional
Shelly is an Assistant Golf Professional who joined the
Valley Hi Country Club staff in 2012. She learned to golf when she was seventeen
years old and immediately fell in love with the game. Shelly attended San Diego
State University on a golf scholarship and knew she wanted to share the love of
golf with others. She started coaching at Santa Clara University and after
moving to Elk Grove, she began coaching the Franklin High school team for
sixteen years. Shelly’s emphasis on basic swing fundamentals keeps it fun for
all levels and ages. She enjoys time with her husband and two kids.
